Bengaluru RV University announces scholarships for students affected by Covid-19

Bangalore-based RV University has instituted around 100 scholarships for deserving students and those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Karnataka legislature recently passed the RV University Act to help the Rashtreeya Shikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) establish the university. RSST is one of the oldest educational trusts in Bengaluru with a number of schools and colleges under its umbrella.

The new university will offer scholarships in the form of a full tuition fee to eligible students who have lost one or both parents due to the pandemic. Ten students will be covered by the scholarship at its three schools dealing with liberal arts and sciences, design and economics and finance, the university said in a press release.

The university has also instituted several school-specific scholarships. At the School of Economics and Finance, the university announced a full or partial grant of tuition fees based on their score on the qualifying exam. At the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the School of Design, the university set aside Rs 15 lakh each for scholarships for students who have excelled in studies and extracurricular activities.

The number of scholarships will increase in the coming years, said the university’s professional vice-chancellor, DP Nagaraj. Vice Chancellor YSR Murthy said the Trust’s scholarships would help deserving students immensely.
