I write so as not to bore readers Smriti Irani at Jaipur Literature Festival
The 15th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival, a paradise for literature lovers and festival-goers, will take place on the grounds from January 28 to February 01, 2022.
Politician and former actress Smriti Zubin Irani launched her debut novel, Lal Salaam, an action-packed thriller, at a party hosted by the iconic Jaipur Literature Festival.
The book was unveiled in the capital by Vir Sanghvi and S. Prasannarajan, editor-in-chief, Open Magazine, amid a large number of book lovers.
Inspired by the tragic murders of 76 CRPF members in Dantewada in April 2010, the book is a tribute to the exceptional men and women who gave their lives in the service of the country, in particular to meet the challenges of the Red Corridor.
“I write so as not to be bored. For me, it was essential not to have a moment in the book where readers feel the need to put the book down. I have to make sure I capture the attention and imagination of my readers. I want them to appreciate and feel every emotion in the book. Before I even wrote the book I had the whole plot in mind and that didn’t change once when I finally started writing. I finished the novel in eight months, ”Irani said.
Lal Salaam is the story of a young officer, Vikram Pratap Singh, and the challenges an idealistic policeman faces when the system is steeped in behind-the-scenes politics and corruption. It is the gripping story of a struggle against overwhelming obstacles, and of men and women who battle those obstacles with courage, resourcefulness and resilience.
The 15th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival, a paradise for literature lovers and festival-goers, will take place in the field from January 28 to February 1, 2022 and virtual sessions will be uploaded from January 28 to February 6 with an online experience prolonged.
