On December 4, 2021, Sharice Towles, librarian based in Reading, Pa., Will celebrate the release of her first book of poetry, While I Was Watching The Sun, with a book launch event and live reading hosted by the Reading Public Library. The event will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the main library branch, located at 100 S 5th St.

While I Was Watching The Sun is Towles’s first book and is published by independent publisher SDJ Press. The collection includes twenty-three original poems on life, love and rebirth. In a spirit of local collaboration, the book cover design and interior graphics were created by Idalmi Rivera, a student at Kutztown University and a former student of Reading Senior High School.

During the book launch event, Towles will sign copies of While I Was Watching The Sun, read poetry from the collection, and participate in a question-and-answer session. Light refreshments will be served.
