Photo report: the CELSIUS team illuminates the St. Clair River and vice versa

The prettiest water of any national offshore powerboat race is not in Florida, not even in Key West. Year after year, that distinction belongs to the St. Clair River Classic and the St. Clair River itself outside of Detroit.

Blasphemy, you say? Take a trip to the St. Clair River one day. Chances are your mind will change. But even if you don’t, you will have seen one of the most beautiful waterways in the country.

Riders and fans were reminded that during today’s practice ahead of tomorrow’s contest, which attracted around 40 teams (a full list and race schedule will be released in the morning) at Offshore Motorboat Association– product event. The St. Clair River Classic is the fourth of eight races in the American Power Boat Association’s Offshore National Championship Series. It’s a favorite among competitors for the natural beauty of the river and the passion of enthusiasts who call it their native water.
