Poole College welcomes Marques Smith as IT Analyst

Poole’s Office of Business Services welcomes Marques Smith to the Information Technology (IT) team as an IT Analyst.

Smith is an NC State alumnus who holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Studies and Chinese Language and Literature. During his undergraduate studies, Smith started out as a student worker for Ask Us before moving into a full-time role as a library technician at DH Hill Library where he worked for four years from 2018.

We are very happy to have Marques join us here to help build a first class IT support model.

“He brings a unique perspective and experience to our team; we are very pleased to have Marques join us here to help build a first-class IT support model and provide exceptional service to faculty, staff and students at Poole College,” said Sasha Challgren, Director of computer science.

In his new role as IT Analyst, Smith will be Poole’s front-line desktop support specialist. He will manage the computer consultants for computer science students and oversee the work of the new computer help desk which is due to open at the end of this year.

“I wanted to join Poole because of the opportunity to build something from scratch, ie the new service desk, and to be able to help faculty and students at the college,” Smith said.

Outside of the office, he spends time traveling, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and playing with friends.
