Preparing to Return – The Poetry of Hai Hac Phan

Hai Hac Phan

Get ready to come back

I have a whole spring in my heart that will bloom. (Photo: Triet Tran)

It’s late and it still counts
Yesterday in gray hair
The month just flowed like tears
The year is just as calloused as a cellulitis.
It’s late, I find myself bent over
Like an endless road
Spring is coming, still walking full miles
I didn’t go back to where mom is.
Throw yourself on the ball of joy
Like painting a new wall
Waiting for someone who has just left
Wait until the betel nut doesn’t crush the nostalgia.
What are we holding here,
Enjoy a room with a floral scent!
The mind has beautiful handcuffs
Gone to the sand of love
I rejoice like a child
Prepare every little corner to return to where we were always small
I have a whole spring in my heart that will bloom
There was a mother who came out at night to greet us at the door!
