“In this new collection, Joy Ladin wonderfully records the stories of the Shekhinah, the feminine aspect of Gd, an extremely important figure in Judaism. Each poem in Shekinah speaks whirlpools and surges at different speeds, alternately fierce and tender flowing like a timeless continuous present. In Ladin’s work, the Shekhinah has much to say about our current conditions and challenges. Poetry is earthy, ethereal and soulful.” —Gregg Bordowitz

About selva oscura press: Founded in 2015 with the aim of publishing beautiful emerging and established poetry and experimental writing. The press takes its name from dark wood of Dante’s Inferno, as well as an omen when bourbon ages. Some of it evaporates from the oak barrels which gives the drink its character and blackens the bark for nearby trees. In the slang of distillers, it is the the part of the angels. selva oscura press
