Starbucks partners with Literature, Publishing & Translation Commission to launch Books & Beans

Saudi Arabia, Riyadh – Starbucks collaborated with the Commission for Literature, Publishing and Translation – as a literary partner – to launch Books & Beans, a cultural initiative that brings together local Saudi literary talent with the community to encourage dialogue and exchange. The initiative held the first of its bi-monthly events on June 28 at the Starbucks Reserve Boulevard Store in Riyadh.

Members of the literary community and cultural friends of Starbucks and the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission were treated to an evening with multi-award winning Saudi author Dr. Badriyah Al Bishr, among other chroniclers, novelists and writers. An audience of aspiring authors and book lovers discussed the challenges and benefits of becoming a writer in today’s competitive literary world.

The initiative is part of Starbucks’ broader mission to help the Ministry of Culture foster talent and growth in the arts and culture sectors across the Kingdom.

I am honored to have been invited, to meet so many passionate readers and writers, and to be able to discuss such an important art form with such a rich history here in the Kingdom. I want to thank Starbucks and the Commission on Literature, Publishing, and Translation for inviting me, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Books & Beans will host its second event in September, where Starbucks hopes to further celebrate established and emerging literary talent and continue to shine a light on the importance of artistic dialogue in the Kingdom.
