Veterans Parade Essay Contest Open to High School Students
Honoring America’s Veterans, the nonprofit organization behind the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade, hosts its annual high school essay competition.
As the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, the theme for the parade and essay contest is âWave the Flag of Freedomâ.
The requirements for this year’s essay competition are as follows:
The student is currently required to attend an Arizona high school from Grades 9 to 12. Home-schooled students of secondary school age are also eligible.
Entries must be between 300 and 500 words.
Nominations should be submitted online at honoringamericasveterans.org.
Applications must be submitted by Tuesday September 14th.
Entries will be judged on the focus on theme, creative writing, grammar, originality and content.
Selected winners will receive a cash prize, the ability to board the Hall of Flame fire truck in the 2021 Phoenix Veterans Day Parade, publication of their essay in the parade program and on the website Honoring America’s Veterans, and Veterans Day commemorative items. The teachers of each of the winners will receive a cash prize of $ 100 for their class.
